Celebrate Every Milestone
No matter how big or how small, all of our client’s milestones are worth celebrating! However, someone unfamiliar with autism spectrum disorder may not recognize a success when they see it. Therefore, we would like to tell some stories to help bring awareness to ASD, how ABA can help, and what we define as a milestone for a child or young adult receiving our services.
Here is an example, recently shared by Tiffany Bellina in her blog post “Interested in Learning More about a Career In ABA?” Here, Tiffany refers to a client she had when she was an ABA therapist whose parents believed they would never be able to speak.
Lessons from Our Clients
We thought it would be good to flip the usual autism awareness message on its head and instead of talking about what we teach people with autism, talk about what people with autism have taught us. A few examples shared by the 5k committee include patience, flexibility and, understanding. We encourage you to reflect on your experiences working as an ABA Therapist or Behavior Analyst and share some of the strengths you have gained from helping our clients.
